“If you do the same thing you’ve always done, you’ll get the same thing you’ve always gotten.”
Pretty simple. To think otherwise is irrational. You can do the same thing you’ve always done and expect something different, but you’ll be sorely disappointed. Furthermore, life doesn’t give you the option to keep doing the same thing forever. Things change, which means at some point, you have to change the things you do.
This is growth. And think: when you were a child, you were pushed into uncomfortable situations to facilitate your growth. Placed in new situations year over year, and sometimes maybe even month over month, you learned what you needed to do to survive, and you developed the skills to operate at some social level. As you progressed, you were pushed to learn higher order skills to thrive in a work environment. All of this was put in place to create the conditions for your success in this society.
But as an adult, you no longer have the constructs in place pushing you to grow. Now, it’s up to you to make that happen. And you must, if you want to be able thrive in the ever-changing landscape of life. You have to find those areas that need work in yourself. You have to decided to work on those areas, yourself. And you have to actually do the work to facilitate that growth.
You have to do it.
And it starts with understanding. What is your ordinary? What can you do to change your ordinary? Because breaking out of your ordinary needs to happen in order to facilitate growth. Breaking out of your ordinary needs to happen in order to create the conditions for your future success. Breaking out of your ordinary needs to happen in order to gain something different. Something more.
Break out of your ordinary.
